Midget A Team Travels to Windsor to Compete in Hocktoberfest
Friday morning started off with a tough loss 5 - 1 to Detroit Compuware. Kelli Bradley (Tara) scored an unassisted goal.
The second game was a 2 - 1 victory over the Toronto Leaside Wildcats. Vanessa Armstrong (Gorrie) found the back of the net twice with assists coming from Nicole Evans, Janine Vanderschot, Kelli Bradley and McKenna Yost.
The final game in the round robin was against the North York Storm. The girls jumped to a quick lead with Armstrong scoring early in the first. Before the first period was over the Storm tied it up. The second period saw the Storm score 4 goals. In the third the Ice Hawks faught back with Kellie Rawn assisting on Molly Halpin's shot from the point. Armstrong scored again assisted by Kelli Bradley and Brittany Butcher to bring them within two; but that is as close as they would get.
Saturday night the Ice Hawks found themselves facing the number one ranked Brampton Canadettes. The girls played a very strong game but could not find the back of the net and lost 3-0 with an empty net goal coming in the final seconds of the game to end their tournament.
