The Midget A girls hockey team sponsored by Playtex Sport finished their exhibition schedule with a strong 5-0 victory over the Clearview Ice Cats.
Nicole Ballagh-Evans (Chatsworth) started things off in the first, with Vanessa Armstrong (Gorrie) assisting. The Ice Hawks turned up the heat in the second with Armstrong finding the back of the net with help from Jenah Van Loon (Walkerton) and Ballagh-Evans. Brittany Butcher (Chatsworth) scored an unassisted goal. The girls kept the pressure on in the third with Ballagh-Evans scoring her second of the game with assists from Armstrong and Van Loon. Janine Vanderschot (Owen Sound) rounded out the scoring with Molly Halpin (Port Elgin) earning the assist.
The girls then started the regular season with a rematch with Clearview. It was an even game, ending in a 0-0 tie. Their second game of the season was against the Aurora Panthers. And the Ice Hawks skated to a 3-1 victory. Scoring the goals were Vanderschot, Brittany Butcher (Chatsworth) and Kellie Rawn (Mount Forest),assisted by Kellie Bradley (Tara). by Jon Van Loon
