Atom Cs Go 0-1-1 This Weekend
The Owen Sound Belfor Property Restoration Atom C Ice Hawks were busy this weekend, playing games against West Grey and Grey Highlands.
On Saturday January 28th, the Atom Cs hosted West Grey for the first time this season. The first period saw lots of play in the West Grey end and after good pressure Zoe Beaupre found the back of the net, assisted by Alexis Stephenson and Alexa Thomson. In the second period the Ice Hawks had a power play opportunity but were unable to capitalise on the opportunity. Despite good efforts by our girls West Grey was able to even the score with a goal in the last 44 seconds of the second period. The third period again saw most of the play in the West Grey end but unfortunately the clock ran out on the Ice Hawks. The girls settled for a 1-1 tie.
Sunday January 29th saw the Atom Cs back in action as they visited the Grey Highlands Shooting Stars. The Stars took the lead early in the second period with a goal at 7:12. Play in the second period saw the Shooting Stars 2 more goals but the Ice Hawks did not give up and Aliyah Bonterre was at the perfect spot to grab the rebound off of Zoe Beaupre's shot, putting the Ice Hawks on the board at 4:30. The end of the second period saw the score sitting at 4-1. In the third period the Ice Hawks managed to kill a penalty and had some good scoring opportunities but could not quite overcome the deficit. The final score of the game was 5-1 but is not demonstrative of the level of effort put forth by the girls who worked very hard and played with a lot of heart.
