Busy Weekend for the Atom C Ice Hawks
The Owen Sound Belfor Property Restoration Atom C Ice Hawks had busy weekend with 3 regular season games. The Atom Cs took on the TCDMHA Rebels on Saturday January 14th and then played a double header against Kincardine on Sunday January 15th.
The girls got started on Saturday facing the Rebels for the second time in regular season play. The girls did their best to keep the Rebels at bay. Avery MacDonald was able to squeak a shot past the Rebel's goalie mid-way through the third period which gave the Ice Hawks a glimmer of hope but unfortunately the clock ran out and the final score of the game was 4 - 1.
However Sunday was a new day that offered the girls another chance at redemption as they faced Kincardine for two games. In game one Kincardine was quick off the face-off to score goals at the start of the first and second periods but the Ice Hawks settled in and held them off. However in the third period Kincardine increased their pressure and scored an additional 3 goals to make the final score 5 - 0.
In game two versus Kincardine the girls looked to learn from their experience in the first game and tried to get something going in the Kincardine end but could not quite slip one past the Kincardine goalie. The Ice Hawks got a power play opportunity in the second period to put themselves on the board but were unsuccessful. Unfortunately the final score for this game was 7 - 0 for Kincardine.
Despite the losses this weekend the girls were in good spirits and are looking ahead to their next game against West Grey on January 22nd in Durham.
