Sign Street Season Ends On A Winning Note!
It's only fitting that the Sign Street Novice "C" Ice Hawks ended their season like they started it, with a big win.
The Sign Street Ice Hawks participated in the OWHA Provincial Championships in Vaughan on the weekend.

The girls played three very strong teams, two of which went onto the final 4 of the 16 team tournament.
In their first game vs Woodstock the Ice Hawks had many chances to score but their goalie stole the show making several amazing saves. It ended 1-0. In the 2nd game on Friday the girls faced a tough Goulbourn team and surrendered a 3-1 lead and lost 5-3. Dani Wilkie had 2, Camryn Laycock had the other. In their final game vs St. Mary’s the Ice Hawks opened up a 5-1 lead early. St Mary’s tied it late in the third. Abby Mcmillan scored the game winner with 15 seconds left, her second of the game. Dani Wilkie had a trick and Adassia Clock had the other.
The Novice Sign Street Ice Hawks went 31-14-1 over the 6 month season.  Their were so many highlights over the season.  We finished 1st in WOAA League play, 1st in Provincial Playdowns, and Finalists in the Gretzky tournament.
We'd like to thank the many people that have made our season such a huge success.  First of all to our major team sponsor Sign Street...Dan and Deb Shaw.  Also to many, many other player sponsorships, without your help and commitment these girls wouldn't have the experiences and opportunity to play Canada's great game.
Thank you to all of you parents/grandparents who get your kids to and from the rinks we're in throughout the season.  Thank you to our Manager who keeps us organized weekly. Thank you to the den Mom's who are there every practice and game helping the girls get ready for the ice. Thank you to our home score keepers.  Thank you to our Coaches and trainer for their time on the ice and time off thinking about game/practice plans.  A big thanks to our executive for doing a lot of behind the scenes work.  Reality is it takes a lot of help to run a hockey team, I'm sure a thank you is missed somewhere.  This team has been together for 46 games and at least 40 practices.  The life experiences and friendships will never be forgotten and will live on.  When the players, parents, coaches, helpers look back and reflect on a great season all they have to do is smile and laugh because that's a true representation of what Girls hockey is, everyone remembers the good times, and the time spent together as a TEAM!
We can't sign off without thinking about the terrible bus accident the Humboldt Broncos were in.  This tragedy has touched the hearts of the Hockey Community worldwide.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families and people affected.  May their hearts find the comfort needed to move on and to be strong.  Also we wish the the survivors the strength needed to get well and recover fully.
