International Silver Stick Tournament
The Owen Sound Sign Street Novice "C" Ice Hawks participated in the the International Silver Stick Tournament hosted by Saugeen Shores on the weekend.

The Ice Hawks played the host Saugeen Shores Storm Friday in Southampton at 1:30pm.  Emma Cooper opened the scoring for the Ice Hawks on a nice keep in and shot from the point by Tessa Linklater.  Saugeen would reply a period later and with 40 seconds left scored the game winner on a beautiful breakaway deke.  Hailey Feltis had a great game in net for the Ice Hawks.
The Ice Hawks then traveled to Tiverton to take on the Chatsworth Rebels at 5pm.  This was a tight battle all the way until Shailan Miller made it 1-0 on a great end to end rush firing a shot past the Rebel tender.  Later in the third Dani Wilkie scored on a scramble out front of their net to make it 2-0.  This ended up being the final score.  Aimee Dubosq recorded her first shutout of the season making several great saves.
This put Owen Sound into their third game of the tourney Saturday morning at 10:20am in Paisley when they faced a familiar team, the Walkerton Capitals.  Owen Sound had a sleepy start letting up 3 quick goals in the first 3 minutes of the game but settled in the rest of the way.  The girls had many puck battles but struggled to get by Walkertons defense.  The Capitals won 5-0 and won their next one vs. the host Storm, and lost the final vs. Mitchell 2-0.  Mitchell didn't allow a goal in their 4 games to take the Silver Stick title.
One of the many highlights of this tournament is the Saturday afternoon Skills Competition.  Every division is represented and one player from each team competes in four events.  Hardest shot, fastest skater, shooting targets, and breakaways. Leeann Roney represented the Novice Ice Hawks very well by winning the hardest shot event and the target shooting event.  Congrats Roney!
Thank you to the Saugeen Shores Storm organization and the International Silver Stick committee for putting on such a fantastic tournament.  See you next year.

Sign Street
Sign Street was originally conceived to be the in-house sign division of Avenue A Advertising, Owen Sound‘s leading ad agency, but soon many non-agency clients began coming to us for our creative “team approach” to designing eye-catching signs. Now we produce a wide variety of marketing and promotional signs of every size and shape – from business cards to large scale billboards – and you don’t have to be one of our full-service clients to get our team working on your design. Our 5,600 square foot showroom and installation facility is set up to make it easy to view and choose sign options. Plus, when it comes to vehicle wrapping, we can accommodate vehicles up to 42 feet in length. Yeah, that’s enough room for a big, big truck. At Sign Street, we want to be your number one choice for all of your business advertising and promotional needs, and we’ll work hard to earn your business.
