Peewee A Girls Play Well In Detroit
The Peewee A Ice Hawks got stronger as the tournament went on this past weekend in the Bauer World Hockey Invitational in Detroit.
The girls lost game one 3 - 0 to Little Caesars, a Michigan based team. In the second game, we tied the Chatham Outlaws 1 - 1, with the unassisted goal scored by Avery Wettlaufer. Chatham would eventually win the tournament.
In our final game of round robin play, the girls had a goal called back and were edged 4 - 3 by Compuware, another team from Michigan. Abby Grexton scoring the first and 3rd goal with the third goal being assisted by Kiandra Martin. The second goal was scored by Reese Wilkins and assisted by Jamieson Carr.
In our early morning semi final game, the girls out skated, out hustled and out played Little Caesars only to see the game slip away in the final few minutes of play. The final score was 1 - 0. The girls' efforts might not have resulted in a trip to the final this time, but against great competition the girls took their play to the next level.
