Girls Pee Wee ‘A’ • 50/50 start
The Owen Sound Ice Hawks Pee Wee 'A' team started their season with a Loss and a
Win!
Game One saw our opponents (the Orangeville Tigers) fight off the ensuing attack of the Ice Hawks. Owen Sound goalie Arenn Osadzuk stopped everything that came her way. Orangeville got on the board with a scramble rebound off of goalie Ashlynn Stephenson. The girls played hard but had to settle for a 1-0 loss.
Game Two was at home Versus the West Huron Wave. The Hawks came out flying with a goal from Kiandra Martin from the point assisted by Avery Wettlaufer. The Wave answered in the second on a scramble in front of the net. The Wave persisted but Hawk goalie Ashlynn Stephenson made some great saves to keep the score tied at 1-1.
The Hawks answered immediately with a great shot by Katelynn Laverne (assisted by Jaydn Williams) that deflected off of a Wave player and over the shoulder of their goaltender. That gave the Hawks a 2-1 lead.
Abby Grexton, Lauren Radbourne and Jamieson Carr added some insurance by pressing hard and finding the back of the net to make it a 3-1 finish.
A great start to the year and a great way to lead into the ‘3rd Annual Starsfest’ in Markham-Stouffville this weekend.
