Grey Bruce Public Health's Current Recommendations for Organized Sport
To date we have had a very successful season playing ‘normal
hockey’ in league play and for some teams in tournaments.
Thank you to
everyone for following the public health protocol that have kept us safe:
wearing masks, practicing hand hygiene, physical distancing and getting
vaccinated.
We have recently seen an increase in Covid-19 cases in our
region. Investigations by Grey Bruce Public Health have shown that
current cases in students are associated with social activities before and
after organized sports. To keep our members safe in these times of higher
case counts we are strongly recommended by public health to:
· Adhere to physical distancing on the bench and in stands
· Limit time in dressing rooms or other communal spaces outside of play; continue to use masks and physical distancing in these areas
· Prevent carpooling with people from other households
· Prevent social gatherings before or after play
· Prevent travelling to and spending time in areas of higher Covid-19 rates for games and tournaments

We will also be following new protocol set in place by the Province of Ontario:
· Effective December 20,2021, youth aged 12 to 17 years participating in organized sports are required to show proof of vaccination at recreation facilities
· Effective January 4, 2022, we are required to use the enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code at facilities. The QR code can be used digitally or by printing a paper copy. The enhanced certificate can be downloaded at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine/
If you have been informed by public health that your child or family are required to self-isolate, please inform your manager so we can keep track of your expected date of return to hockey.
At this time, Owen Sound Girls Hockey will carry on with our scheduled games and practices as planned. We will have a better chance of continuing with our season if we all continue to follow public health protocol. We will continue to watch for further messaging from the Province of Ontario, OWHA, Grey Bruce Public Health and the City of Owen Sound and notify our members of any future changes.
We wish you all a very happy holiday season!
