The Owen Sound Bantam BB Ice Hawks Had 4 games the last 2 weekends as they looked to stay ahead of the pack to lead the Central West Division in Lower Lakes Female Hockey League Standings.

First game action saw a double header in Owen Sound at the Julie MacArthur Regional Rec Centre on Sunday, January 5th vs the Cambridge Road Runners.

Cambridge had come from behind to beat Owen Sound in Hespeler 4 to 3 back in early November after being down a pair in the 3rd, so you knew it would be a pair of tough games.

The first one was tight checking and the shots totals were low as Owen Sound won 1 to 0.

Kenzie Falls scored on a tip in from the point on a shot from Renayla Campbell and Keirsten Henrich drawing the other assist.

Final shots were 10 to 5 for Owen Sound as Sophia Fuller got the shutout victory in net for Owen Sound.

Game 2 that afternoon saw Owen Sound get a 2 goal lead and then blow it again but survived to get a 2 to 2 tie.

Kenzie Falls would open the scoring in the 2nd period on a rebound with assists going to Natalie Madill and Karissa Rasmussen.

Renayla Campbell would score from the point in the 2nd from Jolie Mcknight and Chesney Miller.

Cambridge would score in the late part of the 2nd and again late in the third to tie the game.

Sophia Fuller stood tall in the net again stopping 14 pucks for the tie as Owen Sound out shot the Road Runners 25 to 16.

This past Sunday, Jan 12th,the Ice Hawks traveled to Mount Forest to play the Rams and went home with a 3 to 1 victory.

Kenzie Falls would stay hot as of late to score first as she and Chesney Miller went down on a 2 on 1 just 32 seconds into the game.  Miller went in on the right side after a drop pass from Falls, and then Miller would find her for the one timer on the other side a few seconds later. Natalie Mole would get the other assist on the play.

Mount Forest would score in the second period on a power play from Kate Krispin with Sydney Sawyer and Quinn Wormington getting the assists.

But Heather Koch would get her second of the season from the back end off a face off with Karissa Rasmuissen winning the draw back to her.

Kenzie Falls would score again in the third period from a crazy angle to win by a final 3 to 1 score. Natalie Madlll and Renayla Campbell would get the assists on the marker.

Owen sound would out shoot the Rams 23 to 10 with Alyssa Barnard making 9 saves in net.

So the last game was on Monday, January 13th in Owen Sound vs the Waterloo Ravens at the Julie Macarthur Regional Rec Centre and was a nail biter and a very fast paced game.

With Owen Sound just ahead of Waterloo in the standings, it had both teams playing at their best as they are battling it out for 1st in the division.

Final score was 0 to 0 as Owen Sound out shot the Rams 18 to 7 with Sophia Fuller backstopping the Tie game Shutout!

Next action for the Ice Hawks is their final regular season game on Saturday, January 18th at 3:45pm as they host the Mount Forest Rams at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre

Owen Sound with just the one game left now has 14 wins, 3 losses and 4 ties for 32 points with 2nd place Waterloo Ravens sitting at 27 points with 4 games left and 3rd place Ayr Rockets sitting at 23 points with 5 games left. so it shall come down to the last game of the season to see who ends up on top of this close division.
