Atom Rep Ice Hawks Win Gold at Mount Forest Rams Girls Classic
Submitted By OSGH on Sunday, November 12, 2017
The Owen Sound Atom C Ice Hawks won their division at the 3rd Annual Mt Forest Rams Girls Classic Tournament in 3 straight wins over this past weekend.

On Friday morning the girls went up against the Mt Forest Rams winning 3-1. Zoe Beaupre scored the first goal in the second period with Madison Rayner and Maya Beirnes assisting. Zoe scored again in the third, unassisted.  Then Natalie Book scored her first goal of the tournament assisted by Shailan Miller and Avery MacDonald. Felicity K. scored the lone goal for the Rams assisted by Bella V.

The girls second game of the day was against the TCDMHA Rebels, ending in a 1-0 win!  Shailan Miller scored the only goal of the game, unassisted;  goaltender Sarah VanDrunen posted the shut out.

With these two wins our team was guaranteed a spot in the finals.   On Sunday morning the girls met up with the TCDMHA Rebels again for the championship game. With 1:09 left in the first period Cali Hill scored her first goal of the tournament assisted by Zoe Beaupre. TCDMHA fought back hard and scored their only goal for the game to tie it up with 8:40 left in the third period.  37 second later Madison Rayner scored the gold medal clincher, assisted by Zoe Beaupre and Cali Hill.

The Owen Sound Atom C Ice Hawks team has a small roster, with only 10 skaters and a goalie.  This tournament win was the result of a total team effort. Each and every one of the girls worked hard to make this weekend a success! Well done girls!!

Our Atom C Ice Hawks are off to a fantastic start, with a record of 7 wins and 1 loss.  Head Coach Steve MacDonald  and Assistant Coaches Morgan Emonts and Scott Rayner are proud of the girls for their team work and effort so far and continue to strive for the same success for the rest of the season.
