Novice HL Ice Hawks Experience the Brampton Easter Tournament
The Novice HL team wrapped up their season with a trip to
the Brampton Canadettes tournament. Although the competition was tough,
it was a great experience for everyone and a true example of playing for the fun
of the game.
With the introduction of the Novice C team this season, our team is primarily made up of Initiation and Tyke players and this was their first tournament. With Novice being the lowest division we were up against older and more experienced teams, but we all had fun on the ice, bonded with teammates, and got better and better with each game.
The highlight on the ice was our first goal scored on a rush by Tessa Linklater in the final period of the final game. Every player worked hard every shift of every game and came off the ice with a smile. Our goaltenders, Adalyn Jackson and Natalie Book deserve special recognition for their efforts. We also need to thank the Pee Wees for loaning us their jerseys -- we looked great, just that much smaller!
The off-ice experience was the real highlight as we got lots of pool time, mini hockey, and pizza parties with our Maplelea fan club! We also had the opportunity to see all the older Ice Hawks players both on and off the ice – who were great role models for our “Mini” hawks. It will be exciting to see our players continue next season and develop as hockey players and teammates.
Special thanks to Coach Jeremy McCoubrey, Ashley Clock and Jennifer Linklater for their efforts this season!
