Submitted By Rick Papke on Tue 04 14, 15
Congratulations on your powerful performance in this competitive tournament. Final Passing Grade A+.

The Owen Sound Girls Atom BB Ice Hawks had a successful weekend at the Ontario Provincial Championship in Toronto.  The girls were SILVER medalists at the Atom BB level.

On opening day Friday they defeated the Toronto Leaside Wildcats 1 – 0 and lost to the heavily favoured Aurora Panthers 3 – 2. The Panthers had went undefeated in their Lower Lakes League regular season and had won Bronze in the League Championship Tournament.

Saturday afternoon their 3rd game was against the Etobicoke Dolphins who were relegated from Atom A at the end of the regular season. The Ice Hawks won this game 8 to 1 and with a second place finish in their Pool advanced into Quarter-Finals play against the Niagara Falls Rapids on Saturday evening. This team had captured the Lower Lakes League Championship two weeks previously and were obvious medal favourites. Owen Sound won convincingly by a 6 – 2 score and moved into the semi-finals against the Waterloo Ravens.

Sunday morning. With a heroic effort the Ice Hawks won 3 – 2 in Overtime. Owen Sound would again have to face the strong Aurora team, this time for the Gold, Sunday afternoon. Although it was a scoreless tie for the 1st half of play, the Panthers strength prevailed and they took a deservedly 4 – 0 win.  SILVER for Owen Sound was victory in this Provincial Championship.
