Shootout Sends Pee Wee Girls Home Early...
The Owen Sound Pee Wee BB Girls were in Toronto last weekend to play in the Toronto Leasides Wildcats Hockey tournament.

The tournament division had 8 teams in it with 2 pools of 4 with 3 round robin games and then a quarter final match to earn a spot in Sundays playoffs.

The first game was a beauty as the team met up with the Stratford Aces and won 3 to 1.

The game was heavily dominated by Owen Sound as they only gave up 4 shots all game.

Chesney Miller scored the first goal with assists going to Natalie Tolton and Renayla Campbell.  Kenzie Falls scored the second goal with Tiegen Berne and Marissa Rouse getting the assists.

Stratford would score in the 3rd period, but Natalie Tolton would reply with assists going to Chesney Miller and Mary Green.

Game #2 saw the girls meet up with Toronto Leasides Wildcats major team and lose 3 to 1.

Leasides scored twice in the first period and then again with 20 seconds left in the 3rd period.

Marissa Rouse would score in the second period off a face off draw with the assist going to Chesney Miller.

Then Saturday morning the girls lost 3 to 0 to Etobicoke Dolphins.  It wasn't the best outing the girls could have had as a team as they came out flat and the offence was a little hard to come by.

But the 4th game the girls had finished 3rd in pool B and drew 2nd place from pool A, the North York Storm for the Quarter final match with the winner to play in 2 more games on Sunday.

The girls jumped out to a 1 to 0 lead early as Natalie Tolton scored from Chesney Miller and Lara Dennis.

North York would tie it up in the second, but Chesney Miller would soon reply with a goal of her own as Natalie Tolton and Maggie Harvey found assists on the play to go up 2 to 1.

North York scored again with 4 minutes left in regulation forcing the team to play 4 on 4 overtime period for 5 minutes.

Neither team could get the job done, so it came down to a shootout.

Mackenzie Falls scored on the first shot while Alyssa Barnard made a beautiful save on their top player.

Natalie Tolton and Chesney Miller both missed their chance and they scored on their last 2 shots to win the game 3 to 2 and advance to Sunday.

A tough way to decide a playoff game, but that's hockey, someone has to lose sometimes!

The girls are next in action on Saturday, March 17th as they host a pair of exhibition games at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm in Owen Sound both vs the Guelph Gryphons.

Following that, they are hosting the 2nd Annual Owen Sound Shootout Spectacular Tournament at the Rec Center on March 24th & 25th, they will be playing games vs the North York Storm, Mississauga Chiefs and St Catherine's Brock Jr Badgers.
