Lauren Radbourne
scored the OT winner as the Owen Sound “Grey Bruce Laser Vision Centre” Midget A Ice Hawks
captured
GOLD at the Durham West 23rd Annual Bolts & Hearts Tournament in
Pickering this past weekend.
The Hawks went undefeated in round robin play with a 2:2 tie over Durham West, a 4:1 win over Peterborough & a 3:1 victory over Rochester.
Placing first overall heading into the semi-finals put the team up against the Peterborough Ice Kats once again. Arenn Osadzuk was on fire between the pipes earning the 2:0 shut out win.
The Gold medal game saw the Hawks face off against the host team - Durham West Lightning. It was a back and forth battle between two very hard working teams. Durham West got on the board first but the Hawks answered back in the third forcing the game into a three minute 4 on 4 overtime period. With only seconds left in OT Lauren Radbourne buried one in the back of net giving the Hawks the 2:1 GOLD medal victory! CONGRATULATIONS LADIES!!
Now the Owen Sound Midget A Ice Hawks are gearing up for the second round of LLFHL playoffs as they face the Kitchener Lady Rangers on Sunday February 26th at the JMRRC.
