The Owen Sound Ice Hawks “Grey Bruce Laser Vision” Midget A Girls played two home games this weekend while also helping out at the Fourth Annual Bears In Blue Night for the Owen Sound Attack!
The Hawks were happy to spend the weekend at home and took full advantage of playing on familiar ice. Saturday afternoon the Ice Hawks hosted the Waterloo Ravens at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre. After a great performance by goalie Madison MacGillivary and hard work by both our defensive & forward lines the game ended in a 1:1 tie.
Following a team dinner the ladies were off to the Bayshore to volunteer their time for the Bears In Blue Night at the Owen Sound Attack home game Saturday night. The Attack partnered with the Canadian Cancer Society to help raise awareness and funds for men's cancer and the girls were on hand to help hand out pamphlets, pass the buckets and even brought their skates to collect the pucks after the toss the puck challenge!
The girls were back on the ice on Sunday afternoon as part of the Owen Sound Girls Hockey Showcase hosting the Kitchener Lady Rangers. Even with the Rogers TV cameras rolling and Fred Wallace in the house the ladies didn’t let the big stage throw them off their game and finished the weekend off with a 2:1 win!
