The Paul Davis Systems PeeWee A Ice Hawks were eliminated from further playoff action in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League.
The Waterloo Ravens defeated the IceHawks on the strength of very strong goaltending and defence. In the first game at home, the IceHawks were shut out 1 – 0 despite outshooting the Ravens 30 to 5. The players were disappointed in the loss but their play was encouraging. The second game was in Waterloo and again the IceHawks were blanked. This time it was 4 – 0, the last goal being scored with just over a minute remaining into an empty net. The IceHawks had played the previous five minutes with their goalie pulled but could not put the puck in the Ravens net. Shots on net favoured the IceHawks 20 to 7 but kudos to both Raven goaltenders, they played flawlessly.
The Paul Davis Systems IceHawks finished the regular season in 5th place, one point behind the 4th place Waterloo Ravens. They will now practice and seek out exhibition games to fill a six-week void. In their two season tournaments to date, they were eliminated in a shoot-out and in double-OT games. On their horizon is the 49th Annual Brampton Canadettes Tournament 24th – 27th March followed by the Provincial Championships 8th – 10th Apr in Toronto.
