4 Point Weekend for the Midget "A" Team

The Midget "A" Ice Hawks girls hockey team sponsored by Playtex Sports/Energizer travelled to Aurora to take on the Panthers Saturday afternoon.

After a slow start, the Ice Hawks took over the play and in the second period, Kellie Bradley (Tara) found the back of the net to open the scoring. Assists went to Taylor Vokes (Chatsworth) and Kellie Rawn (Mount Forest).

The Ice Hawks kept the pressure on and in the third period Molly Halpin (Port Elgin) set up Bradley for her second goal of the night.

Haileigh Duplantis (Port Elgin) was busy between the pipes and earned the shutout.

Sunday, they took on the Clearveiw Ice Cats and came home with a 5-2 victory.

Opening the scoring for the Ice Hawks was Rawn with an unassisted marker.

The Ice Hawks kept the pressure on and Megan Yake (Mount Forest) set up Rawn for her second goal of the game. Then Vanessa Armstrong (Gorrie) banged in one, with Brittany Butcher (Owen Sound) and Delaney Dupon (Owen Sound) getting the helpers.

The Ice Hawks were not done there. Jenah Van Loon (Walkerton) scored a shorted handed goal and Butcher ended the second period scoring, with assists to Natalie Lupo-Flewelling (Flesherton) and Van Loon.

In the third period, the Ice Cats managed to make a game of it, scoring twice, but Micaela Stutzki (Chesley) was strong between the pipes and the Ice Hawks skated away with the 5-2 victory.

Next weekend the Midget A Ice Hawks girls hockey team travel to Orillia on Friday night to take on the Hawks and Sunday they have two home games at the Julie McArthur Arena – at noon they take on the North Simcoe Capitals and at 6:30 pm they face the Toronto Leaside Wildcats.
