Bantam BB - Price Of A Goal at an All Time High...
Submitted By OSGH on Wednesday, February 20, 2019
Well there was a nice sized crowd in town Tuesday night at the Julie McArthur Regional Rec Center to watch Game #3 of the Provincial Qualifiers between the Walkerton Capitals and the Owen Sound Home Decor & More Bantam BB Ice Hawks wondering if either team will find a way to score a goal in this series.

As the story has gone all season between these two teams, it was fast paced and a very tight checking affair.

The 2 teams traded chances early in the first period and as the game went on their were plenty of close calls at both ends, but in the end the Ice Hawks found the edge in out shooting Walkerton 15 to 10.

Owen Sound winger, Keirsten Henrich hit the goal post half way through the second and her team mate Mary Green ripped a blast off the cross bar from the back end late in the same period.

Then again in the 3rd, Lyndsay Cumming also was able to sneak a back hand past the Walkerton keeper in the last 2 minutes of play but only to find the iron too!

In the end, the teams settled for their 2nd straight 0 to 0 tie and 5th exact score in six tries this season.

Teagan Campbell played net for Walkerton this time while Sophia Fuller was once again solid as she held the fort for the Ice Hawks.

The two teams will take a break for the weekend from one another as they have other commitments booked in.

Walkerton is in the second round of Lower Lakes Female Hockey League Playoffs on Friday and Sunday vs the Cambridge Road Runners after defeating the Mount Forest Rams 2 games straight in the first round.

Owen Sound is in the Brantford Walter Gretzky Tournament and plays the 2019 defending International Silver Stick Champions, the St Clair Shores Saints U14 team from Michigan, USA on Friday morning.

The team will then have a team visit and session along with the Ice Hawk Novice C and Atom C teams on Friday afternoon with Team Canada Women's National player and Assistant Captain, Jocelyn Laroque and Becca King who is a veteran player from the defending CWHL Champion Markham Thunder.

Then they will resume play on Saturday, Feb 23rd at 10:00 am vs the Stoney Creek Sabres, again at 4:00 pm vs the Brantford Ice Cats and then Sudbury Lady Wolves at 9:00 pm that same night.

Finals are on Sunday if the team can grab enough points to get there with there hectic schedule.

After that, the Home Decor & More Ice Hawks will travel to Walkerton for Game #4 on Tuesday, Feb 26th at 8:00 pm, and if needed Game #5 will be back in Owen Sound on Tuesday, March 5th at 8:00 pm.

Good Luck to both teams this weekend!

Great job last night once again ICE Hawks!!!
