The Atom IceHawks posted 12W 6L and 4T for 28 points at the conclusion
of their regular season. Their record placed them in 2nd place in
the Lower Lakes Hockey League WEST Division.
We are probably the most aggressive team at our level if penalty minutes are any indication (99 PIMs). Unfortunately referee’s at this level are also developing and in many instances, they seem to confuse legal body contact with body checking, ergo penalty. Teams in our particular Loop center around the Kitchener-Waterloo vicinity and the winner will playoff against the Champions of three other Loops in the League for the overall championship. The playoff champions of the four Loops play for the League Championship to be held in Oshawa on the 27th and 28th of March. Separate from the League Championship is the Ontario Provincials in which the Ice Hawks will be representing their District. The Provincials will be held 10th to 12th April in Mississauga. Sandwiched between the League Championship and Provincials, the IceHawks will be competing in the 48th Annual Canadettes Tournament in Brampton April 3rd - 5th. This is billed as the World’s largest and longest running female hockey tournament.
A Second Place league finish and losing in OT `for the Championship in the Markham-Stouffville Tournament earns the IceHawks an “A” Rating. Hopefully they add + to this rating on April 12th 2015.
